Setting Up Your Phone

  1. Basic phone training - See the Phone Setup Videos section of this article. You can learn more about using your new phone by registering for one of our free, live, interactive ShoreTel Sky Training Webinars. To learn more about the options you have for placing, answering, and ending calls, see the Call Management article.
  2. Unpack and connect your phone to a power supply and network - If your phone is already setup and connected to a network and power source, skip to the next step. If you need to connect your phone to power, see the Connecting Your Phone to a Power Supply section of this article.
  3. Log into your phone with your phone number and phone/voicemail PIN - For instructions, see the Phone Log In section of this article.
  4. Record your voicemail greeting and name - For help, see the "Recording/Changing Voicemail Greeting" section of the Voicemail Management article.

ShoreTel Phones

The following one-minute video shows how to setup and use your ShoreTel phone.

Cisco Phones

The following two-minute video shows how to connect your Cisco phone.

Phone Log In

If your phone displays a log in or assign screen, follow the instructions below for the brand of phones being used in your phone system.

Using ShoreTel Phones

  1. Press the Assign soft key to display the Assign user screen.
  2. Enter your extension or full 10-digit phone number.
  3. Press the Next soft key.
  4. Enter your phone/voicemail PIN.
    • Note: When logging into a phone for the first time, use the default PIN for your organization's phone system. You may be prompted to change your PIN.
  5. Press the OK soft key.
  6. The phone displays your name and extension.

Using Cisco Phones

  1. Press the Services button (globe icon) to display the Login screen.
  2. Enter your full 10-digit phone number in the "Subscriber" field.
  3. Use the blue toggle button to move to the "Password" field below.
  4. Enter your phone/voicemail PIN.
    • Note: When logging into a phone for the first time, use the default PIN for your organization's phone system. You may be prompted to change your PIN.
  5. Press the "Accept" soft key.
  6. The phone will display a welcome screen and reboot using your phone number.

Connecting Your Phone to a Power Supply

Depending on your network, phones are powered by Power over Ethernet (PoE) or external power. If you need to connect your phone to a power supply, review the following sections to make the proper connections.
