Mediatrix 4102S (Mitel Connect CLOUD)

Mitel Connect CLOUD supports the Mediatrix 4102S Analog Telephone Adapter for use with analog conference phones and analog phones.

The Mediatrix 4102S is a versatile ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter) that is supported by the Mitel Connect CLOUD phone system. This device enables an analog device to interact with a VoIP phone system. This ATA works well with conference phones and analog phones.

NOTE: The Mediatrix 4102S ATA firmware version certified for use with Mitel Connect CLOUD is 2.0.29.531. It is recommended that any Mediatrix 4102S ATA devices used with Mitel Connect CLOUD are equipped with this firmware version or later.​

Setting Up the Mediatrix 4102 S ATA

Use the following instructions to set up a Mediatrix 4102S ATA and retrieve the IP address assigned to the device. The IP address is needed for accessing the web interface for the ATA device.

  1. Plug in the power cable and connect the WAN port to the network.
  2. Plug in the phone into the PHONE port.
  3. Pickup the phone and press *#*0 to hear the IP address.

Configuring the Mediatrix 4102S ATA

Configuration of the Mediatrix 4102S ATA device requires the following steps:

  1. Configure the SIP interop parameters using an SSH client.
  2. Configure the remaining parameters for the ATA using the embedded web interface.

Configuring SIP Interop Parameters

Some SIP interop parameters must be configured using an SSH client, before using the embedded web server to complete the configuration.

To set the required SIP interop parameters:

  1. Start the SSH client and log into the ATA device using the following credentials:
    • Hostname (or IP address): enter the IP address of the ATA device
    • User: admin
    • Password: administrator
  2. Type set SipEP.InteropSdpDirectionAttributeEnable=Enable, and then press Enter.
  3. Once the operation is complete, type set SipEP.InteropOnHoldSdpStreamDirection=SendOnly, and then press Enter.
  4. Once the operation is complete, type set SipEP.InteropOnHoldAnswerSdpStreamDirection=RecvOnly, and then press Enter.
  5. Once the operation is complete, close the SSH client.

To view the required SIP interop parameters:

  1. Start the SSH client and log into the ATA device using the following credentials:
    • Hostname (or IP address): enter the IP address of the ATA device
    • User: admin
    • Password: administrator
  2. Type one of the following to view the setting for the desired SIP interop parameter:
    • get SipEP.InteropSdpDirectionAttributeEnable

      The parameter should be set to Enable.

    • get SipEP.InteropOnHoldSdpStreamDirection

      The parameter should be set to SendOnly.

    • get SipEP.InteropOnHoldAnswerSdpStreamDirection

      The parameter should be set to RecvOnly.

  3. Once the operation is complete, close the SSH client.

Configuring the MediaTrix 4102S Parameters

Once the SIP interop parameters have been configured using an SSH client, you can complete the ATA configuration using the embedded web server.

  1. In the address bar of any web browser, type the IP address assigned to the ATA and then press Enter.

    The ATA admin log in page is displayed.

  2. Log in using the following credentials:
    • User: admin
    • Password: administrator
  3. Select the SIP tab, and then select the Servers subtab.
  4. Under Default Servers, configure the settings for Registrar Host, Proxy Host, and Outbound Proxy Host as follows:
    • US/Canada: 3psbc.sky.shoretel.com
    • UK/Europe: 3psbc.sky.shoretel.eu
    • Australia: 3psbc.sky.shoretel.com.au
  5. Under Keep Alive, configure the settings as follows:
    • Keep Alive Method: SIP OPTIONS
    • Keep Alive Interval (s): 30
    • Keep Alive Destination: First SIP Destination
  6. Click Apply.
  7. Select the Registrations subtab.
  8. Under Endpoints Registration, configure the settings for the Phone-Fax1 endpoint as follows:
    • User Name: Enter 1+ the 10-digit phone number of the connected phone
    • Friendly Name: Enter 1+ the 10-digit phone number of the connected phone
    • Register: Enabled
    • Messaging: Disable
    • Gateway Name: all
  9. Click Apply.
  10. Select the Authentication subtab.
  11. Under Authentication, click the edit (pencil) button on line 1, and then configure the settings as follows:
    • Apply To: Endpoint
    • Endpoint: Phone-Fax1
    • Validate Realm: Enable
    • Realm:
      • US/Canada: 3psbc.sky.shoretel.com
      • UK/Europe: 3psbc.sky.shoretel.eu
      • Australia: 3psbc.sky.shoretel.com.au
    • Username: Enter 1+ the 10-digit phone number of the connected phone
    • Password: Enter the SIP password for the phone
  12. Click Apply.
  13. Select the Transport subtab.
  14. Under General Configuration, configure the settings as follows:
    • Add SIP Transport in Registration: Enable
    • Add SIP Transport in Contact Header: Enable
    • Persistent Base Port: 16000
    • Failback Interval: 15
    • TLS Certificate Trust Level: Locally Trusted
    • TCP Connect Timeout: 189
  15. Under Protocol Configuration, in the TLS list, select Enable.
  16. Click Apply.
  17. Select the Interop subtab.
  18. Under SIP Interop, in the OPTIONS Method Support list, select Always 200 OK.
  19. Under TLS Interop, in the Certificate Validation list, select No Validation.
  20. Click Apply.
  21. Select the Management tab, and then select the Certificates subtab.
  22. Click Activate unsecure certificate transfer through web browser.
  23. Under Certificate Upload Through Web Browser, do the following:
    1. In the Type list, select Other.
    2. Click Browse, and then navigate to and select the thawte Primary Root CA - G3.cer file.
    3. Click Import.

      A new line appears under Other Certificates.

  24. Click Apply.
  25. Select the Network tab, and then select the Host subtab.
  26. Under Host Name Configuration, in the Domain Name Configuration Source list, select Automatic IPv4.
  27. Under Default Gateway Configuration, in the Configuration Source list, select Automatic.
  28. Under DNS Configuration, in the Configuration Source list, select Automatic IPv4.
  29. Under SNTP Configuration, configure the settings as follows:
    • Configuration Source: Static
    • Primary SNTP:
      • Off-net: pool.ntp.org
      • On-net: Enter the IP address of the voice gateway.
  30. Click Apply.
  31. Select the Media tab, and then select the MISC subtab.
  32. Under DTMF Transport, configure the settings as follows:
    • Transport Method: Out-of-Band using RTP
    • Payload Type: 101
  33. Click Apply.
  34. Select the Reboot tab and reboot the ATA device.
  35. Once you log back into the ATA device, verify that the device displays the correct date and time.

    Note: If NTP is not working, the ATA will not register accounts or devices with the Mitel Connect CLOUD system.
